Four Administration Police Officers and 1 Civilian Killed in Lamu Attack

Seven Administration Police (AP) officers were killed on Wednesday after their armoured personnel carrier (APC) hit an explosive device at Baure area in Lamu County.

Officer in charge of the Multiagency Security Team in Lamu, Noah Mwavada, said the seven officers from the Mangai Rapid Border Patrol Unit were travelling to Mokowe to refuel the vehicle.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers rushed to the scene to help the officers but were attacked by suspected Al Shabaab Militia resulting to a firefight.

The Multi-Agency Security team has been working to contain multiple militia attacks in the area since 2014.
