IEBC Reject Miguna's Papers for Nairobi Governorship

Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna was on Thursday turned away by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) when he submitted his papers for clearance at Kasarani Stadium

Miguna was reportedly turned back for submitting signatures in the wrong format.

County returning officer Joseph Mele explained that Miguna had presented 2,000 signatures in JPEG, as opposed to the required Excel format.

The Gubernatorial aspirant, however, stated that the decision to have him and other aspirants present signatures on an excel sheet and not JPEG format was an afterthought that had not been communicated to him earlier.

"IEBC' s demand to have the signatures presented on an excel sheet is not a requirement by the law.

"They had not said that before.  They said they had been called by their legal department to require that is done today. So, I have told them I am doing that right now, " Miguna stated.

He (Miguna) was sent back to correct the error and will be expected to submit his documents after sorting out the issues.

The renowned lawyer is seeking to be the Next Nairobi Governor as an independent candidate and will face off with incumbent Evans Kidero, Senator Mike Sonko, former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende among others.
