Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has declared that he will lead a protest if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) failed to transfer officials who conducted Jubilee nominations in the County.
The Governor claimed that the IEBC officers who conducted the primaries were to blame for his loss adding that he was making the demand on behalf of all independent candidates.
"Mr IEBC chairman (Chebukati), those people whom you seconded to Jubilee to conduct nominations, please get them out of Kiambu. We don’t want them to oversee the (general) election. If that does not happen, we will demonstrate all over Kiambu and march to the IEBC offices," Kabogo declared.
He further added that if his warning is not heeded to, he and other independent candidates would head to court to file a complaint.
"All IEBC officers, whether permanent or temporary, who participated in Jubilee, ODM or any other party nominations should not to take part in the election if IEBC will not hear us, we will go to court. We will not allow that to happen," he stated.
Mr Kabogo had earlier complained about the issue after identifying the County Deputy Elections Manager Shadrack Githinji as one of the officials who participated in Jubilee primaries.
Kabogo was speaking at the Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) where he was presented with his nomination certificate.
He was looking to clinch the Jubilee ticket but lost to his rival, Kabete Member of Parliament (MP) Ferdinand Waititu.
