Man Kills Wife, 2 Children and Commits Suicide at a Lodging in Kiambu

A man being sought by police for allegedly killing his entire family and running into hiding has been found dead in a lodging in Kutus, Kirinyaga County.

Confirming the incident, Kabete OCPD Joseph Ongaya said that the suspect, Erastus Kabage Mwangi, who had allegedly murdered his two children and wife last week was found dead having hung himself at the lodging.

Ongaya stated that Mwangi reportedly took his own life by hanging himself in a lodging after they circulated information warranting his capture.

He revealed that workers at the lodge identified the suspect from the police circular and broke into his room where he was found dead.

"We had circulated his name and picture to the public, this is how the operators at the lodge got to identify him after breaking into his room," Ongaya said

The OCPD disclosed that the suspect had killed his entire family a week ago and locked their bodies inside their house.

Neighbours discovered their bodies in Muthure village, Kabete, on Friday after a foul smell drew them to inquire on the whereabouts of the family.
