Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura and Kiharu MP Irungu Kang'ata in Court Over Campaign Billboards

The political battles between Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura and Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Irungu Kang'ata have found their way to court regarding the August 8 General Election.

The Senator moved to court accusing an advertising firm of breaching a branding contract.

Gitura alleges that the advertising firm pulled down one of his billboards and replaced it with that of Kang'ata who will be challenging him in the Muranga Senatorial race.

On his part, Kang'ata defended the actions, stating that the incumbent has three other banners while he only has one.

The Senator lost the Jubilee party ticket to Kang'ata in the Jubilee Party nominations though he disputed the results.

He later resigned from Jubilee announced that he would defend his seat as an independent candidate despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's call for losers in the exercise to support the winners.

However, the Senator maintained that he would still campaign for President Kenyatta's re-election.
