Somali Community to Endorse Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's Re-election

A major event has been organised during which Mombasa Governor Ali Hasan Joho will be officially endorsed for re-election.

Making the announcement on Wednesday, members of the Somali community residing in the county declared that they would support Joho as he seeks to defend his seat.

Led by Secretary General Mohammed Ibrahim, the group declared that it would make a major declaration during the event.

“We have organised Iftar which various leaders are expected to attend and endorse Joho and the National Super Alliance," stated Ibrahim.

The Secretary General stated that the community had unanimously decided to back Joho after they were offered two executive positions in the Governor's administration.

He added that they had benefited from Joho's government hence their resolve to launch a campaign to ensure he gets re-elected.

The ODM deputy leader got a direct nomination certificate from the Party and has already been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to run in the August Election.

He, however, faces strong opposition from Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar (Wiper), Jubilee's Suleiman Shahbal and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who will vie on a Vibrant Democratic Party ticket.
