Rift Valley Elders Warn President Uhuru Kenyatta Against Fight Between DP William Ruto and KANU Chairman Gideon Moi

The supremacy battle between KANU chairman Gideon Moi and Deputy President William Rutohas taken a new twist after elders from the Rift Valley weighed in on the matter.

Led by Rift Valley Council of Elders Chairman Gilbert Kabage, the elders stated that the duel between the two leaders would cost President Uhuru Kenyatta the presidency.

Kabage warned that the infighting was not healthy and their feud was confusing voters and supporters of President Kenyatta.

“The infighting between Kanu leaders and the Deputy President is not healthy. It might hurt Jubilee Party’s efforts to marshal support for the Head of State,” warned Kabage.

He called the KANU leaders to work with the Jubilee leaders and shelve their differences ahead of the August polls.

“We know the two leaders are harbouring ambitions of running for the presidency in 2022. But they should shelf the ambitions for now and focus on drumming support for President Uhuru Kenyatta,” noted Mr Kabage

Council Secretary Peter Charagu added that the supremacy battles between KANU luminaries and the deputy president risked rocking the Jubilee boat from within.

Their sentiments came hot on the heels of threats by KANU leaders who asked President Kenyatta to tame DP Ruto or they would ditch Jubilee and join the National Super Alliance (NASA).

KANU secretary Nick Salat had at a meeting accompanied by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto stated that they were reconsidering their earlier endorsement of President Kenyatta.
