Kilifi Woman Representative Summoned By Police Over Allegations of Issuing Death Threats

Kilifi Woman Representative Aisha Jumwa was on Tuesday afternoon picked by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for questioning.

The Vocal ODM politician was grilled for more than 30 minutes over allegations that she threatened to kill her former staunch manager and campaigner Ezra Bidii after they fell out.

Mr Bidii filed a report, alleging that the vocal politician was planning to assassinate him after the two fell out.

Confirming the incident, the Divisional Criminal Investigation Officer Anthony Sunguuti stated: "Ezra claims that Jumwa vowed, at different campaign meetings that she would do away with him before embarking on serious campaigns".

Sunguuti disclosed that fearing for his life, Bidii had recorded a statement with the police.

"We summoned Jumwa who after interrogation admitted she knew Ezra. Jumwa said she fell out with Ezra, her former campaign workman on the basis of his work ethic," the DCI officer stated.

Jumwa was forced to cancel her campaigns in Kisumu Ndogo so as to attend the grilling session.

She denied the allegations and called on the investigative agencies to conduct a thorough probe into the claims and establish the truth.

She added that for the claims to be valid, her accuser must come up with compelling evidence linking her to the claims.

"Ezra should give the CID valid proof of his claims. He should tell the investigative authorities when the said assasination was slated to take place and how it was to be carried out." Jumwa stated.

Bidii decamped from Jumwa's camp and is currently supporting Malindi legislator Willy Mtengo (Independent candidate). Jumwa on the other hand is the Orange Democratic Movement parliamentary candidate for Malindi.
