Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho to Lead Kisumu and Nyanza Candidates in Campaigning for Raila Odinga

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been given a new role in the National Super Alliance (NASA) campaign team.

The new appointment will see Joho lead campaigns for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates and the Nyanza presidential campaign team.

The Governor is expected to lead the candidates and the Nyanza presidential campaign team in a bid to consolidate votes for NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.

ODM candidates in the area have planned a series of rallies at Ahero Town, Nyando, Kenyatta Sports Grounds and the famous Kirembe grounds in Kisumu town.

According to senior ODM officials in the region, the rallies are aimed at making inroads in areas where independent candidates have gained ground and unite voters from Raila’s backyard.

Kisumu County ODM chairman Kennedy Ajwang stated that they would not be leaving anything to chance and confirmed that they had even invited NASA principals to grace their rallies.

“We expect various ODM top leaders to launch the campaign in the county,” Ajwang stated.

Governor Joho now joins Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Oburu Odinga, Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga, Kisumu Senator Anyan'g Nyong’o and Nyando MP Fred Outa who have been heading Raila's campaign in the region.

Last week, Governor Joho had announced that he had taken time off from Raila's campaigns to concentrate on Ramadhan and his Mombasa Governor re-election.
