Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar Warns Governor Hassan Joho Over Plan to Campaign for Raila in Nyanza

Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has cautioned his rival Governor Hassan Joho over plans to campaign for NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga and his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka in Nyanza.

Senator Omar, while speaking at the Grand Annual Iftar, stated the move was ridiculous and warned that Joho that had delved into national politics instead of focusing on Mombasa.

“We have left you to go national...you will find out when you come back that you have been ousted," he stated.

The Wiper Party Secretary General laughed off the plans saying it was inefficient to seek votes for Raila in his stronghold.

“I cannot go to Migori or Kisumu to ask for votes for Raila. I want to go to ask for votes for Raila and Kalonzo in Nyeri and in Eldoret,” Omar stated.

According to Senator Omar, NASA leaders should put more energy on raiding Jubilee strongholds and marshal support in their home areas before moving to other areas.

“Every vote against Jubilee is very important now and they are found in Nyeri and Eldoret. Let me go there...I do not have to campaign nationally. What I have and what the Wiper team has in Mombasa is common sense," he stated.

The Senator further noted that he had not been engaged in national politics as he was focused on ensuring that grassroots voters in Mombasa support NASA.

“I am the one to ask Mzee Twahir to vote for Raila and Kalonzo. Raila cannot ask Mzee Twahir to vote for Hassan Sarai," he mentioned.

On Wednesday, Kisumu county ODM chairman Kennedy Ajwang announced that Joho would lead the campaigns in the Nyanza region.

Governor Joho and Senator Omar will face off in the August elections.
