Raila Odinga Forced to Cancel Rarieda Rally After Gumbo- Rasanga Youth Clash

Several people have been arrested after NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga's rally in Rarieda, Siaya County, ended prematurely following a clash between two rival groups.

Trouble began after Raila advocated for six-piece voting, sparking a fight between supporters of ODM party nominees for the upcoming elections and independent candidates.

During the rally, a fierce rivalry played out between supporters of Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo and Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga who are both eyeing the gubernatorial seat.

The residents expressed a show of defiance after the NASA flag bearer tried to explain why the locals should adopt the six- piece voting pattern.

The rival groups hurled stones at one another with some suffering physical injuries.

The youth, who were supporting Independent candidate Nicholas Gumbo, jeered at Raila openly showing their displeasure towards his sentiments.

This prompted the supporters of Rasanga and ODM candidate Otiende Amollo to attack Gumbo's team at the rally.

Raila tried to calm down the charged crowd even using the local language but his efforts bore no fruit.

The NASA flag bearer who was accompanied by co-principal Musalia Mudavadi and Senator James Orengo was forced to proceed to Bondo.
