NTV Cameraman Bernard Ojwang Stoned During NASA Rally in Migori County

An NTV photojournalist was on Friday stoned by angry youth after a rally addressed by National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga in Migori County ended in chaos.

The cameraman, Benard Ojwang, found himself in the middle of the chaos suffering injuries to his lower abdomen.

Reports indicated that the youth pelted at least 10 vehicles with stones including an Isuzu D-Max double-cab belonging to the Nation Media Group that had its windscreen smashed.

Vehicles in Migori Governor Okoth Obado's campaign caravan was also damaged in the process.

The youths went ahead to barricade the highway where they resorted to attacking motorists.

They chanted slogans in praise of the various candidates seeking the county's gubernatorial seat.

The fracas happened a day after Governor Obado alleged there was a plot to disrupt the NASA rally.

"We are aware of plans to cause chaos at the rally. Some youth are being brought to disrupt the meeting but we are fully alert. We are liaising with the police to make sure the planned meetings go on uninterrupted," the Governor stated.

Obado warned independent candidates and their supporters to keep off the rally.
