Cracks Emerge in NASA After Governor Isaac Ruto Campaigned for Patrick Ole Ntutu of CCM

A decision by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to campaign for Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Narok Governorship candidate Patrick Ole Ntutu has angered ODM leaders in the region.

Speaking in Narok, ODM leaders in the region led by Narok North legislator Moitalel Ole Kenta demanded a clear stand from NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga on who he supports in the contest.

The leaders announced that Raila should drum up support for the ODM candidate Joseph Ole Tiampati just as Governor Ruto was doing for Ntutu.

“We want Raila to campaign for Tiampati openly. We will not allow CCM to be all over Narok stadiums when as ODM we are doing nothing for our gubernatorial candidate,” Kenta stated.

Mr Kenta warned Governor Ruto that he should desist campaigning for the CCM candidate as Raila was not lobbying for the ODM candidate.

“If Raila is not campaigning for ODM candidate then Isaac Ruto should also desist from campaigning for Patrick Ntutu so that we, ODM, can have a level playing ground," he mentioned.

Mr Tiampati on his part disclosed that efforts to field one candidate in the region had been futile as Ntutu refused to step down.

“We as NASA planned to have Ntutu step down for me but he declined.

"That is why we decided to square it out on the ballot. I call upon Narok residents to vote for NASA as it will transform the lives of the Maasai community,” Tiampati stated.

Mr Tiampati is seeking to be the next Narok Governor and will face off with Ntutu of CCM and incumbent Governor Samuel Tunai in the August Election.
