NASA and Jubilee to Hold Prayer Rally at Uhuru Park on Saba Saba Day

The National Super Alliance (NASA) and Jubilee Party teams will hold prayers at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on July 7 to mark this year's Saba Saba Day.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, NASA Flag bearer Raila Odinga stated that the prayers are part of preparations for elections.

"Tutakuwa na maombi siku ya Saba Saba kwa sababu tunataka kuanza hiyo ziara ya kuelekea kwa nane nane...(We will have prayers on Saba Saba because we want to start the journey to August 8th - election day),” the NASA Leader stated.

Sources from State House who spoke to The Star disclosed that leaders from both parties would attend the meeting but there will be no political talk during the Saba-Saba prayers.

Both parties have been cleared by police to converge at the grounds accompanied by their supporters to celebrate the day.

After the Uhuru Park meeting, both coalitions will hold separate campaign rallies to sell their agenda for the August 8 election.

The Jubilee party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta will head to Turkana County on a vote-hunting mission while NASA will hold a rally at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi.

Saba Saba marks the day when protesters in Kenya successfully demanded multiparty democracy in 1990.
