Education CS Fred Matiang'i Launches New Probe on Maseno School

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Thursday for a fresh probe into the inner dealings of the Maseno High School.

Dr Matiang'i gave the new order after it was discovered that a significant amount of government funds allocated to the institution could not be accounted for.

The investigations are aimed at establishing how the funds were spent soon after the principal and management of the school were replaced.

"There are allocations that were given to the Maseno School but there's nothing in terms of infrastructural development that the funds were dedicated to," Dr Matiang'i told parents and students who had gathered for a Prize Giving ceremony at the school.

He added that he would enlist the services of anti-corruption agencies in Kenya to ensure an audit is conducted.

"We will involve all the anti-graft agencies to follow up on the money," Matiang'i asserted.

The Ministry of Education has also posted 12 new teachers to the institution as part of an initiative to restore the institution to its lost glory as an academic giant.
