Nairobi Governorship Aspirant Mike Sonko Asks Crowd to Stone NASA Leaders

Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Mike Sonko has been put on the spot after a video emerged capturing him making inflammatory remarks.

The recording was made on Thursday as the Senator drummed up support for the Jubilee Party in Nairobi.

Addressing a crowd at Zimmerman area, Sonko is heard making asking a group of youth to stone National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders.

He goes ahead to make reference to the incidents of heckling and chaos that have marred both Jubilee and NASA rallies.

"Mimi ningependa kuwaambia wajipange. Tuko na polisi, tuko na wanajeshi..Tukiwa hapa kwetu tuwapige mawe...mliona wale walitupia Rais mawe kule Kisumu" (I would like to tell them (opposition) to prepare themselves. We have the police and the military. When we are on our home turf we will stone them. Did you see those who stoned the President in Kisumu?") he asks.

The remarks came on a day when NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga was jeered and his convoy pelted with stones by rowdy youth in Thika.

Odinga and his entourage were forced to flee as police lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the rowdy group.

On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto were also heckled by NASA supporters as they launched the EABL bottling line in Kisumu.

Sonko is seeking to be Nairobi's next governor and will battle it out with incumbent Governor Evans Kidero and independent candidates Miguna Miguna and Peter Kenneth.
