Linet Mirehane Speaks Out After Peter Kenneth Dropped Her as Nairobi Governor Running-mate

Linet Mirehane, the former running-mate to Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Peter Kenneth, has finally spoken out after the two parted ways.

The former Kilimani councillor conveyed that she opted to remain in the Jubilee party after Mr Kenneth decided to run as an independent candidate.

Speaking during Senator Mike Sonko's manifesto launch on Sunday, the mother of three added that her decision to back Sonko's bid for governorship was also in response to the party leader's call.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had called for Peter Kenneth to join Sonko's bid in order to guarantee a win for the ruling party.

"I am the former running-mate to Peter Kenneth and some of you know that. We were thrashed by Sonko and Peter Kenneth decided to go independent.

"I am here because I decided to stay in Jubilee and I have heeded the President's call to support Sonko and I will join him in making Jubilee win Nairobi," she explained.

She went on to clarify that she has been a member of the Jubilee party since inception.

In March, Mirehane had threatened to strip naked alongside other women if she was side-stepped in her bid to become the deputy governor.
