Jubilee Emerges Most Preferred Party in Meru County - TIFA Poll

A new poll released by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) on Monday has shown that the Jubilee Party remains to be the most preferred party in Meru County.

When respondents were asked which political party they felt closest to, 70% chose Jubilee, 15% chose the National Super Alliance (NASA) and 5% remained undecided.

The new ratings come a week after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga led a massive crowd in Meru in chanting anti-Uhuru slogans pledging their support to the Opposition leader.

The incumbent Peter Munya remained the county's most preferred candidate maintaining the lead at 47% with Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi following closely behind with 39%.

The county's Woman Representative Florence Kajuju remained a favourite for the seat at a 45% rating with independent candidate Ms Kawira Mwangaza being a close second with 38%.

Another county of interest is Machakos where the incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua has maintained a steady lead ahead of his main challenger, former Kathiani parliamentarian Ms Wavinya Ndeti.

Dr Mutua stands at 59% while Ms Ndeti is at 35%.

The gap may be bridged after the Deputy Governor of Machakos, Mr David Kiala, dropped his bid for the governor seat in support of Ms Ndeti on Sunday.
