Wavinya Ndeti Rejects Results, Claims Governor Alfred Mutua Stole Her Votes

Machakos Governor Candidate Wavinya Ndeti has rejected preliminary results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) putting incumbent Governor Alfred Mutua ahead.

Addressing the press on Wednesday afternoon, Wavinya stated that she had already sent official communication to the IEBC rejecting the results.

“Mutua is just used to stealing, he stole from me the last time and he just continues to steal.

We have written to IEBC and stated that we are rejecting the results,” she declared.

Accompanied by her running mate, Peter Mathuki, the Wiper candidate said she had evidence of vote rigging on the ground, adding that in some constituencies, the number of ballots cast is more than the registered voters.

Mathuki reiterated Wavinya’s sentiments stating that the results announced by the electoral body were creating anxiety.

“We don’t understand where they are getting those numbers from because they are not agreeing with the figures we are receiving from our party agents,” he explained.

The results released on the IEBC website show that Mutua is leading with 235,700 votes at 53.27% against Wavinya's 196,955 at 44.50%.
