Jubilee Party Wins Key Seats in Western and Ukambani Regions

President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party has dealt a major blow to the opposition after clinching key seats in Western and Ukambani regions perceived to be strongholds of NASA Leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka respectively.

In Western, Jubilee got 8 parliamentary seats out of 33 and in the Ukambani region, Jubilee secured key seats.

Kakamega County home to NASA- Co principal Musalia Mudavadi and ODM Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya was the worst hit with Jubilee winning four seats.

President Kenyatta's party captured Mumias East, Navakholo, Malava, and Ikolomani seats which were all previously held by the Opposition.

Apart from securing the seats, President Kenyatta also increased his presidential tally in the region. In Kakamega, Uhuru got 63,191 votes, up from the 12,469 he got in 2013.

In Bungoma, Uhuru managed 125,865 votes, an improvement from the 42,988 of 2013, while in Vihiga County he got 18,254, up from 2,542 in 2013 and finally in Busia County he got 34,400 votes, up from the 8,186 he got in 2013.

The same trend was replicated in Ukambani region where Wiper lost the Machakos County Gubernatorial seat to Maendeleo Chap Chap led by Alfred Mutua and supporting President Kenyatta.

Mr Musyoka's party also lost the Machakos Town parliamentary seat to Jubilee’s Victor Munyaka who emerged the winner with 43,970 against Wiper’s Ulbanus Mutisya, who garnered 22,235 votes.

The major invasion by President Kenyatta's party is a blow to the opposition as Jubilee will now command huge numbers in the National Assembly.
