Jubilee to Seek Removal of Auditor General Edward Ouko and NLC Boss Muhamad Swazuri

The Jubilee government has announced the first two people it will be seeking to remove from office once the 12th National Assembly begins proceedings.

Garissa Town Member of Parliament (MP), who is also Parliament Majority Leader Aden Duale, has announced that Jubilee lawmakers will seek to eject Auditor General Edward Ouko and National Lands Commission (NLC) boss Muhamad Swazuri.

Duale, who was re-elected for a third term in office, stated that they would use superiority in the House to drive the Jubilee government's agenda.

The Garissa MP stated that he would now have an easy time driving the agenda of the government with the popular “tyranny of numbers” since Jubilee had won a majority of the seats in the concluded General Election.

Once Parliament resumes and the lawmakers are sworn in, Duale divulged that they would also concentrate on allocating the various positions available including representation to the various committees.

The legislators will also finalise on approving representatives to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) which was stalled over disagreement on the nominated members.

Previously, there has been a petition to sack the Auditor General on allegations of corruption and misuse of office.

In February, a petition seeking his removal from office was tabled in Parliament on claims of violating the Constitution by allegedly failing to submit yearly reports to the House and the President.

He was also accused of colluding with other officials in his office to inflate figures in the procurement of a Sh100 Million audit vault software.
