William Kabogo and Other Outgoing Governors to Face Corruption Queries

Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mwangi Kiunjuri has called for investigations on all outgoing governors, among them Kiambu's William Kabogo, who earlier faced corruption related charges

While addressing the press on Tuesday, Kiunjuri stated that the governors will have to appear before the Parliamentary Service Committee for scrutiny on the corruption allegations.

"They will be summoned as holders of that office and not as individuals. Any of them with questions to answer will continue doing so because the law must take to course," said Mr.Kiunjuri.

Besides Kabogo is Daniel Waithaka of Nyandarua and Jack Ranguma of Kisumu County, Nathif Jama of Garissa County and Isiolo's Godana Doyo.

Earlier this year, senate's County Public Accounts and Investments Committees asked the EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation to probe Governors in eight out of 10 counties.

The committee cited the breach of procurement guidelines as the most common financial malpractice in the counties.

The Devolution CS also noted that the former county bosses will be entitled to a send-off package of about Sh12.2 Million each.

Kiunjuri also released the dates of the swearing in of the new governors and the venues for the ceremonies.
