Ministry of Interior, Principal Administrative Secretary Joseph Irungu has revealed that a planning committee will meet daily in preparation for President Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing in ceremony.
Speaking on Wednesday after inspecting the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Mr Irungu conveyed that the committee had officially kicked off preparations.
"We as a committee are going to be meeting daily to assess our preparedness ahead of President Kenyatta’s swearing-in ceremony," Irungu explained.
The official added that they were expecting 100,000 people, including international dignitaries, to attend the occasion.
Mr Irungu is chairing a sub-committee which falls under a larger committee chaired by the Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr Joseph Kinyua.
The Assumption of the Office of President Act states that an ad hoc committee chaired by Secretary to the Cabinet is required to prepare a programme for the swearing in ceremony immediately after the polls.
According to Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, a Sh384 Million fund has been allocated to cater for the event despite an oversight by Parliament.

The fund caters for both the swearing in ceremony and, in the case of a handover, facilitates communication between the incoming and the outgoing president.
The swearing in ceremony was set to take place on August 29, however, it may have to be postponed following the Opposition's decision to challenge the election results at the Supreme Court.
