Gardener Arrested Over Killing of 2 Swiss Tourists in Mombasa

A gardener has been arrested in connection with the murder of two Swiss tourists whose bodies were dumped beside a road in Kiembeni, Mombasa County.

Kisauni OCPD Christopher Rotich confirmed the elderly couple were Swiss nationals and said the suspect was arrested at the house the foreigners were residing in Nyali.

He added that police were hunting down three more suspects including a caretaker, watchman and a neighbour.

"We have tracked the phone of the caretaker and we have seen he is in Nairobi. We are also following two others," said Rotich.

He further stated that the two were killed upon their arrival in Mombasa.

"They arrived at Moi International Airport after midnight with luggage which was taken by the killers.

"We suspect the car that was parked in their compound was used to transport the bodies," he remarked.

Rotich also divulged that the two tourists were pensioners who had been in the country for 10 years.

The bodies of Werner Borner Paul, 70, and Marriane Hornel were found by pedestrians on Sunday morning.
