IEBC Manager Explains Why Embu Form 34A Was Signed by Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga

An official IEBC Form 34A has been discovered bearing the names of President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

The document from Runyenjes Constituency, Embu County, was complete with signatures with the only differing detail being the National Identity Card numbers.

Explaining the puzzling occurrence, IEBC Communication Manager Andrew Limo stated that it was an oversight by the Presiding Officer.

"The agents cannot sign on behalf of a candidate and should instead write their names and not those of the candidates.

"I think this was an error which the presiding officer should have avoided by guiding the agents on the name to write," Mr Limo explained.

The Manager added that the only case where the candidates can be allowed to sign the form is when they are physically present at the polling station.

The Kagaari South Ward form was also missing the official IEBC stamp, an anomaly Mr Limo said had been observed in some of the audited forms.

"We are auditing and reviewing the process to check which officers failed to do what they were required to do. The stamping was a way to ensure authenticity although we used other ways to confirm the forms were authentic," the Manager observed.

Here is the scanned copy of the Form 34A from Kathugu Primary Schol polling station that had President Kenyatta's and Mr Odinga's names instead of their party agents names.
