Embakasi West MP George Theuri Explains Why He Went to State House in Sandals

Embakasi West Member of Parliament-elect George Theuri has come out to explain why he decided to put on sandals instead of closed shoes when he visited State House together with other elected leaders in Nairobi.

Theuri said he felt 'comfortable and relaxed'.

"...being a weekend, it was just like my house. Besides, the meeting was informal, not official," said Theuri.

He further stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta was not bothered by his outfit.

Theuri was part of Jubilee leaders who had been invited by the President to State House over the weekend and he even made a speech during the function.

Asked whether he was taking over the 'bad-boy look' from Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Theuri was quick to say open shoes are his trademark and he was not looking for any bad-boy title.

"I always wear open-shoes every time. It is my trademark.

"As for the bling, I have also had them. It is not a question of taking over from anyone," he said.
