Narok Residents Heckle President Uhuru Kenyatta During Campaign

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee brigade on Saturday had a tough time in Narok after they were heckled with residents who sang opposition chants.

A section of the crowd at the rally accused the party of stealing the election and vowed to support the National Super Alliance (NASA) led by Raila Odinga.

President Kenyatta had visited the area accompanied by DP William Ruto and Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen to drum support ahead of the November repeat elections.

The leaders promised to strongly oppose any changes to the composition of the IEBC as demanded by the opposition coalition.

Senator Murkomen noted that they would seek to curtail the powers of the Supreme Court in regard to elections.

Following Friday’s ruling delivered by Chief Justice Maraga, Jubilee Party leaders have addressed rallies in Nairobi’s Burma Market, Nakuru, and Narok.

Their message has been singular, that the Judiciary went against the will of Kenyans and that they are ready for the repeat election.

The legal fraternity has come out to condemn the attacks by the President and other Jubilee leaders on the Supreme Court, saying the court’s decision must be respected and its judges not threatened in any way whatsoever.

The Law Society of Kenya and the Kenya National Union of Magistrates and Judges also warned the politicians on personally profiling the Judicial officers who came up with the verdict.

NASA has demanded the prosecution of elections officials they say were allegedly involved in committing fraud, including IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and 5 other officials.

The Odinga led team announced that they cannot trust the IEBC to conduct the repeat elections ordered by the court.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati promised to effect “personnel changes” and invited the Director of Public Prosecutions to probe staff and find those who engaged in electoral misconduct.
