Legislators Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen Dare Raila to Remove IEBC Commissioners

Majority Leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen have dared Opposition Leader Raila Odinga to try and remove IEBC Commissioners.

Speaking at State House Nairobi on Saturday, the duo threatened to unmask some commissioners from various constitutional bodies working for Mr Odinga.

The leaders explained that if the former Prime Minister leads his coalition to remove IEBC commissioners ahead of the repeat of the Presidential elections, they would shame the commissioners and demand their removal from office.

"If you Raila Odinga you are man enough, try to remove the IEBC commissioners. If you dare, we shall remove all your friends from all the commissions starting with Judiciary and Supreme Court," Duale stated.

Senator Murkomen on his part noted that if NASA wants the IEBC commissioners removed then all the Supreme court judges must also be removed.

"I want to tell Raila face to face that if he wants Chebukati removed, Maraga should also go. If he wants Chiloba removed, he should start with Amadi," Murkomen stated.

President Uhuru Kenyatta echoed the legislators' sentiments adding that the commissioners would only be removed from office if the Supreme Court judges were ejected as well.

"Disbandment of the IEBC should start with the disbandment of Supreme Court," he proclaimed.

The president confirmed that he was ready for the fresh elections that would be held after 60 days adding that the current electoral commission headed by Wafula Chebukati must preside over the polls and not anyone else.

Deputy President William Ruto on his part affirmed that President Kenyatta won the election fairly and that he will still win in the second round.

"We are not going to succumb to pressure from the Courts, we won the election fair and square. The Supreme court has had their day, ours is coming and we will scrutinize everything. We respect the rule of law but we are not stupid.

"They cried against the previous commissioners and they had their way. This is the same IEBC that over saw elections of their Governors, Senators, Woman Reps and MCAs. If Raila has a problem with this IEBC he should first let all those sworn in resign," he stated.
