Education CS Fred Matiang'i Makes New Announcement on 2017 KCPE and KCSE Dates

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i (CS) has stated that this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination is set to be held from October 23rd to November 29th.

Matiang'i further stated that the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations would take place between November 1st to 3rd.

The CS stated that he had written to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) asking them to ensure the re-run presidential election is held a week before October 17th.

He stated that this would give the candidates time to prepare for the examinations without any distraction.

"I have personally called IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and shared the exam timetables to make a case," Matiang'i stated.

"If this does not happen it will lead to the disruption of the academic programme in the education sector," he added.

His sentiments were echoed by KNEC Chairman Professor George Magoha who stated that postponing exams was most undesirable as children would not manage to handle it.

This comes after the Supreme Court verdict ordering a repeat of the presidential election within 60 days.

The court stated that IEBC did not conduct free and fair elections but cleared Kenyatta of any malpractice.

They also stated that the irregularities experienced affected the final outcome of the election.
