NASA's Norman Magaya and Jubilee's David Murathe Clash On Citizen TV

National Super Alliance (NASA) CEO Norman Magaya and Jubilee Party vice-chairman David Murathe clashed when they disagreed on the removal of IEBC commissioners on live TV.

During a panel discussion on Citizen TV on Monday evening, the two exchanged words after the Jubilee Vice-chair disclosed NASA’s motive behind their push to have senior IEBC officials replaced.

Murathe opined that the reason why the Opposition coalition was pushing for the removal of the IEBC commissioners was to disrupt the election dates and cause a constitutional crisis.

“This whole thing is about derailing the elections because they don't want the elections. They are thinking after 60 days there will be a caretaker government which will not happen,” Murathe claimed.

In a quick rejoinder, a clearly agitated Magaya faulted the Jubilee frontman for misrepresenting the facts.

“That is a tired argument. Invent something better. We all know that if a court nullifies a presidential election, the elections have to be held within 60 days, you don’t have to educate anyone on that,” he stated.

To which Mr Murathe responded that the opposition’s demands were making the possibility of holding the elections on the set dates impractical.

Magaya hit back with, “You (Murathe) will benefit more if you listen because you are talking to yourself, you are selling propaganda to yourself.”

At that point, Journalist Anne Kiguta intervened and asked for the two to calm down and carry on with the discussion in an acceptable manner.

“Gentlemen, I'll ask for some decorum, let’s listen to each other,” she urged.
