West Pokot Governor Issues Fresh Demands to Deputy President William Ruto

West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has issued fresh demands to Deputy President William Ruto in what he stated would help the county deliver majority of votes in the upcoming presidential elections.

Speaking during a Jubilee rally on Thursday, Mr Lonyangapuo noted that the DP must address all the challenges the region has been facing to get full support from the residents.

The Governor asked Ruto to deal with the issue of perennial drought if at all he needs the votes from the region.

Mr Ruto was also urged to address the insecurity issue in the county which has derailed the economy of the area.

He further asked the government to withdraw the "shoot to kill order" which had previously caused a rift between the county and national government.

The former Senator urged Mr Ruto to ensure the KDF officers conducting operations in the area work in harmony with the residents.

He noted that Pokot residents would support President Uhuru Kenyatta's re election if his administration will fully comply with the demands.

During the August 8 election, Kenyatta got 64% of the votes while NASA leader Raila Odinga got 36% of the votes.

The former Senator also urged Mr Ruto to address the issue of all the residents who lost their cattle in the cattle rustling that has been taking place in the county.

President Kenyatta and his deputy have been on a campaign trail in the north and south rift regions ahead of the repeat elections.

On Friday, the duo held a rally at Kapkatet grounds where one of NASA's co-principal, Isaac Ruto, declared his support for Kenyatta in the upcoming election.
