Peter Munya Meets President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House

Former Meru Governor Peter Munya has met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House just a week after joining the Raila Odinga-led National Super Alliance (NASA).

In a statement, President Kenyatta noted that he met Munya together with other PNU party officials where they pledged to support his re-election.

"The former Meru Governor pledged that he & PNU would give me their support in the repeat elections, after consultations with party loyalists," the President stated.

Earlier on, Munya, who is the PNU Chairman, said in a statement: "After thorough consultations with our party members, elders, and supporters across the country it has been agreed that in the very best interest of the country we support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta."

The ex-Meru Governor joined NASA last week on Monday after claiming that he had been robbed in the August 8 elections.

"When the election of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka was being stolen I was also canon fodder in that fight and therefore, I cannot join those who stole my election and be working for them.

"That is why I have decided today, and we have decided with the team and the people of Meru who supported me that we will be on this side of history and to continue fighting for change and transformation of this country," Munya stated.

NASA has now lost 2 political heavyweights in a span of 4 days after former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto also decamped to President Kenyatta’s team.
