Supreme Court Judges to Issue Full Presidential Petition Ruling on Wednesday

The Supreme Court has revealed the time when the full verdict of the presidential election petition will be issued.

The Court on Tuesday stated that the eagerly awaited judgement will be released on Wednesday at 10 am.

During the reading of the ruling that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the August election, the judges stated they would issue the full verdict within 21 days.

The four judges who supported the nullification led by Chief Justice David Maraga will issue a detailed and well-thought judgement while those who issued a dissenting ruling will give their reasons for the same.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is holding a meeting at the Supreme Court amid a petition filed against Deputy CJ Philomena Mwilu and Justice Isaac Lenaola.

The meeting comes moments after the petition filed by Derrick Malika Ngumu, who is the Executive Director of Angaza Empowerment Network.

According to the petition, Ngumu claims that the two judges were in secret communication with NASA lawyers during the Presidential election petition hearing.

He accuses Mwilu and Lenaola of gross misconduct with evidence of phone records and also having met lawyers representing NASA leader Raila Odinga and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) outside the courtroom during the hearing of the petition.

This prompted demonstrations outside the Court as a section of Jubilee supporters protested against nullification of Kenyatta's win.
