DP William Ruto Attacked After Tweet on Supreme Court Ruling

Deputy President William Ruto was the subject of online ridicule after a section of Kenyans took issue with a tweet he made regarding the Supreme Court's final verdict issued on Wednesday.

In a tweet, the DP termed the verdict nullifying President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election as a "coup" on the will of the Kenyan people.

He noted that it was not sufficient for the Court to cancel the Presidential result on the basis of technicality rather than the numbers.

The DP posted the tweet on Wednesday night after the majority ruling explaining why the election was nullified had been made.

In their ruling, four judges noted that the presidential election was cancelled majorly because the process was not fair and credible as set out by the Constitution and Electoral laws.

The tweet from the Deputy President angered most social media users who felt that DP Ruto should learn how to respect the independence of the Judiciary.
