2 Former National Bank Managers Arrested Over Sh1 Billion Fraud

Two former National Bank Managers were arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with the loss of Sh1.02 Billion in the company.

Boniface Amunga and George Weke were arrested by officers from the anti-banking fraud unit in Nairobi.

Mr Amunga was the business banking executive while Mr Weke is the former chief credit officer.

The ex-Bank managers will appear before the court on Thursday to face charges which include false accounting fraud.

Yesterday, Dennis Oduor Chumbe, a senior National Bank Manager, was also arrested over a loss of Sh2.3 Billion.

Mr Chumbe denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was released on a Sh3 Million bond or Sh2 Million cash bail.

Last year, two other managers of the same bank were arrested over the loss of Sh106 Million.

Chris Kisire and Wycliffe Kivunira were charged with abuse of office and breach of trust.
