Esther Passaris to Get 2 Top-Range Cars from Uhuru Kenyatta's Government

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris is set to receive two top-of-the-range cars from the government for her own use.

According to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) CEO Magdalene Kipkenei, all 47 county woman representatives will be allocated two cars each before October.

"We shall be allocating each of the 47 women representatives two vehicles for use in their counties after a retreat we have organised for them on September 29, 2017," the CEO reported.

The 94 top notch Chevrolet vehicles were controversially procured during the tenure of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru as Devolution Cabinet Secretary.

The women MPs who served in the 11th Parliament only received the vehicles at the beginning of 2016 under the Devolution Ministry's Affirmative Action and Social Empowerment Fund.

The Affirmative Action Fund was factored into the 2016/17 national budget with a Sh5 Billion allocation, while Senators were denied a Sh1 Billion allocation to facilitate monitoring and evaluation of governors' performance.

The government cars are in addition to the Sh7 Million car grant allocated to all 418 members of the Senate and National Assembly, including women representatives and nominated lawmakers.
