Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Thursday caused a scene at the Kibra Law Courts where proceedings of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino's case were taking place.
Ms Passaris was seen scolding police officers who were stationed at the courts to maintain law and order.
Supporters of the Embakasi legislator were staging demonstrations calling for his release as the police remained in place to maintain law and order.
The Woman Representative perceived a possible escalation to the stand-off which prompted her to intervene.
"The people of Kenya just want you to be neutral, don't take sides. When we do wrong reprimand us but when we are doing what is constitutionally right, you don;t have to attack us," Passaris pleaded.
In the glare of the public, she went on to ask the police officer to refrain from using tear gas on the protesters who wanted their leader freed.
Here is the video of the altercation.
