NASA Leaders Threaten to Defect to Jubilee

A section of National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders from Coast region have threatened to defect to Jubilee party in one week if the party does not meet their demands.

Speaking in Mombasa County on Friday, the NASA politicians, who lost during the August polls in Mombasa and Kilifi counties, demanded that the African National Congress (ANC), Wiper Party and Ford Kenya withdraw from the NASA pact.

The politicians, led by Peterson Misau of Wiper who lost during the primaries, have threatened to join Jubilee unless the party bosses of Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya revisit terms of engagement with coalition leader Raila Odinga.

The politicians accused the ODM party candidates of colluding with IEBC to rig out other coalition candidates in the August 8 polls, stating that Mombasa county was extensively cited in the Supreme Court petition.

"We will not campaign for Raila. ODM was the master schemer in vote theft. We are privy to information that some IEBC officials were compromised," said Mitau who lost the Changamwe Parliamentary seat.

He further revealed that non-ODM candidates were treated as second-class citizens and were frustrated throughout campaigns.

His comments were reiterated by Lawrence Kisilu who ran for Mombasa Senate seat, claiming that presiding officers were recruited by ODM leaders in the region.

"We are victims of ODM election thuggery, and our marriage in NASA is untenable," he said.

Charles Chigiri who ran for the Kilifi Senate seat also pointed out that IEBC should recruit new presiding officers and transfer all election officials in the region.

On his part, Maendeleo Chap Chap politician Yaa Muri demanded the nullification of Mombasa and Kilifi election results.

"We demand the courts hear and determine the petitions in the next seven days and order a repeat election," he noted.
