1 Killed in Siaya County During NASA Demos

A man has been killed after police officers clashed with National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters during the anti-IEBC demonstrations in Siaya County.

According to witnesses, the victim died of shock after police fired tear gas to disperse protesting youth.

The deceased is said to have been caught up in the chaos while returning home from Siaya Referal Hospital.

Elsewhere, police officers were forced to use tear gas to disperse NASA supporters in other parts of the country including Nairobi and Kisumu counties.

In Kisumu County, chaos erupted after residents took to the streets to join in the protests demanding changes in the electoral body.

Anti-riot officers engaged in running battles with the protestors who occupied various streets in the town threatening to interrupt businesses.

The supporters blocked various roads and also pelted police cars with stones forcing them to retreat to Kondele Police Station after running out of tear gas.

In Nairobi, police lobbed teargas canisters at the demonstrators who were approaching the Central Business District before the demos could start.

The demonstrations in Mombasa County were, however, peaceful with NASA protesters gathering and marching along the streets chanting anti-IEBC slogans.
