Babu Owino Reveals How He was Tortured, Forced to Apologise Facing Mt Kenya

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has revealed how he was forced to apologise for insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta during his stay in Pangani Police Station.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, he indicated that while he was locked up, he was forcefully removed from his cells, blindfolded and taken to an unknown location where he was forced to apologise facing Mt Kenya forest.

"On opening my eyes, both my hands and legs were handcuffed. I stayed there for one and a half hours and they said if I do not apologise while facing mount Kenya they would inject me with mercury and the only time he would be left is when he is finished,” he noted.

Since he refused to apologise, the MP divulged that he was returned to the cells where the state officials brought in street kids and the outlawed mungiki members with the intention of having him tortured by the group.

He indicated that over 30 individuals were brought in his cell and water was poured on the floor to prevent him from sleeping or sitting down.

Lucky for him, he stated that a group of individuals brought into his cells understood that he is a fellow 'hustler' and therefore left him unharmed pointing to him their initial intentions.

He also revealed that there were plans by the state to charge him with treason which is punishable by death according to the law.

The MP has been in the limelight after he was arrested two consecutive times in a week.

He was initially charged with causing disaffection against the Presidency after making harsh remarks at a campaign rally in congo area of Kawangware believed to be directed to President Kenyatta.

"If Muammar Gaddafi (Libya) was removed by citizens, if Lauren Ggagbo (Ivory Coast) was removed by citizens, if Yayha Jammeh (Gambia) was removed by citizens, who are you? Wewe ni mtoto wa mbwa (You are the son of a dog)," he stated.

Moments after his initial release, he was dramatically re-arrested and charged with assault and causing grevious bodily harm to an aspirant for the Embakasi East MP's seat during the campaign period.
