Raila Reveals How Ruto Secretly Pushed For a 'Nusu-Mkate' Government

National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Odinga on Sunday revealed that Deputy President William Ruto is the one who pushed for a 'nusu-mkate' government in 2008.

Speaking during a rally at Mama Ngina Grounds in Mombasa, the opposition leader stated that even though the DP was against it now he was the one who developed the concept of a coalition government during negotiations with then-president Mwai Kibaki.

"In 2008, we had talks led by Kofi Annan; representing ODM was James Orengo, Musalia Mudavadi, William Ruto and Sally Kosgey. During the talks the one who came up with the idea for a coalition government was Ruto.

"After we formed the government, he asked to head the Ministry of Agriculture that had many parastatals. He is a warthog who forgets easily," he explained.

Mr. Odinga insisted that their demands must be held if the elections are to take place stating that there should be no text messaging in the transmission of results.

"We only want scanned copies transmitted to constituencies tallying centers and to the National tallying center. We do not want a server, with information about Kenyans, to be located outside the country," he added.

Additionally, the NASA leader demanded that all form 34Bs to be used in the fresh election indicate names of polling stations.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula warned Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto against their comments that the Former Prime Minister had gone abroad to beg for the Europeans to intervene to negotiate for a coalition government.

"Uhuru and Ruto don't play in the same league as Raila Odinga. They must respect him. We can present politicians in their league to face off with," he stated.

On his part, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino affirmed that there would be no elections on October 26.

"26th October will be a national demonstration day. We are the people!" he stated.
