New Announcement Made on Presidential Ballot Papers

The Dubai printing company Al Ghurair has announced that it has completed the printing of Sh18 Million presidential ballot papers which equates to 90 percent of the total work.

The General Manager Lakshmanan Ganapathy indicated that the first set of the ballots would be delivered to the country by Saturday night.

Speaking to an observer group sent to monitor the printing process, the official also indicated that the first bunch would be for Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Tana River, and Lamu counties.

Nonetheless, the printing firm was asked to include Turkana county's ballot papers in the first lot owing to its distance from Nairobi.

Ganapathy also noted that the company had printed all the forms 34A and 34B.

He revealed that increased focus had been put on the important forms considering that the August presidential election was annulled relatively because of the discrepancies on these documents.

Several changes have been made to distinguish the October 26 ballot papers from those used during the August 8 election,

The new presidential papers will be grey and their serial numbers will start from 30,000,000.

Al Ghurair has printed approximately 20 million ballots with extra papers being printed to account for spoilt votes which is inevitable.
