Police Storm Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s Home

Police officers have stormed former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale's home in Malinya area.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Khalwale stated that the officers had arrived at his home with search warrants claiming that they had been given orders by the court.

The former Senator stated that the police did not, however, explain why they were conducting the search.

He alleged that the search was linked to the current political situation in the country adding that his lawyers were already in his home.

Khalwale also confirmed the search on his Twitter account where he wrote: ”Amazing! 4 police vehicles (2 land rovers & 2 trucks) with police have just stormed my Malinya home in Kakamega demanding to search it!”

The former Senator further stated that there was a standoff between the police and his legal team who were demanding to have a look at the search warrants.

The lawyers accompanied the Kakamega DCIO to the law courts to confirm the warrant’s validity before the search commences.

Other reports, however, indicated that the officers claimed he had stored tires for lighting bonfires to disrupt the repeat presidential poll on Thursday.

Western region police commander Moses Ombati confirmed a raid was taking place but did not give details.

"Let's wait for the officers to complete the search so we can see what they come up with," Ombati stated.
