IEBC Makes New Announcement on Presidential Results

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has distanced itself from poll results being transmitted from other sources.

The electoral commission stated that the verified results were on their public portal.

IEBC also noted it had received it had only received 208 forms 34B out of 291 constituencies.

The Commission added that the verification and announcement of results was ongoing at the National Tallying Center located at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

IEBC wrote on its Twitter, “The poll results are found at our portal https://forms.iebc.or.ke. Any other "results" should be attributed to their respective sources.”

This comes following conflicting results with media houses showing that President Uhuru Kenyatta was leading with 7,333,542 votes while the IEBC portal showed he was leading with only 2,477,878 votes.

Elsewhere IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati had announced that figures from 267 constituencies showed that only 6,553,858 Kenyans turned out to vote.

Earlier on, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala had asked  IEBC to declare Jubilee Party candidate Uhuru Kenyatta as president-elect.

He pre-empted the IEBC's announcement of results as he revealed that President Uhuru garnered 7.5 Million votes.

Mr Balala stated: "We know Uhuru got 7.5 million votes...We want the IEBC to declare Uhuru as president."
