IEBC Grants Access to Server

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Tuesday allowed access to its results transmission server.

In a statement from the polls body, the access was granted to the stakeholders of the election including the presidential candidates, agents, and observers.

This comes barely a day after Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner of the repeat presidential election.

According to IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the access has only been allowed for those who made requests.

Nonetheless, the commission clarified that the access of result transmission server would be made open from the period between the day of repeat election until when the results were declared.

"The Commission has provided access rights to presidential candidates, agents and observers who made requests; to the results transmission server from the day of elections 26/10/2017 till results were declared," part of the statement read.

The IEBC boss also indicated that the electoral body would avail the logs to any other interested individual upon request.

Kenyatta was declared the President-elect after garnering 7.4 million votes translating to 98 percent of the total votes cast.
