President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday visited Westlands Primary School as the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination entered its third day.

He interacted with pupils and offered words of encouragement ahead of the Science exam that began in the morning.

He was accompanied by Education and acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who took him through procedures for the exam.

It was the first official appearance he made following the declaration of his victory in the repeat presidential election with 98% of the vote on Monday.

At the time, he stated: "My commitment is to ensure that the exams will continue as scheduled and that the future of our children is guaranteed."

After receiving his certificate from Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, President Kenyatta announced that he was open to engaging in dialogue with the National Super Alliance (NASA) once all legal issues to do with the election were resolved.

NASA leader Raila Odinga has dismissed the repeat poll as a sham and maintained that the Jubilee administration is illegitimate.

He announced the creation of a wing of NASA known as the National Resistance Movement which will be tasked with civil resistance and disobedience.

He divulged that a People's Assembly will be formed to provide a forum to discuss national issues until a legitimate election is held.

A task force would be created to come up with recommendations which will be taken to county assemblies once ratified.
