EXCLUSIVE: Jubilee MPs Speak On Boycotting TV Interviews

Members of Parliament affiliated to the Jubilee Party have spoken out over media reports that they were directed to boycott TV and Radio Talk shows.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.keGarissa Town MP Aden Duale declared that he was not aware of such a directive barring Jubilee members from attending TV interviews.

"I am not aware, those are just rumors online," he stated.

Similarly, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah explained that he too was not aware of the alleged action adding that his decision to boycott any interviews was because he did not believe in the matters being discussed.

"I do not know anything like that. Nobody has barred me but I choose not to debate or engage in retrogressive issues and divisive matters that the media are keen to focus on instead of forging ahead with national unity, cohesion and focussing on the real issues that affect the people," he told Kenyans.co.ke.

He added that there are matters of National importance that should be given priority and that is what he wanted to be addressed when called to partake in TV interviews.

"I want to debate on issues to do with government preparedness for the free day secondary education, the youth internship program etc now; not politics for two years!
Kenyans are tired of politics," he reiterated.

Earlier on last week, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi threatened to boycott NTV debates for what he termed as an inability of TV hosts to call Miguna Miguna to order during the live discussions.

During a Tuesday panel discussion, the Jubilee politician expressed his dissatisfaction at how the host, Trevor Ombija, was allowing the former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate to grandstand other members of the panel.

"Unless you lead us to the point where we say we will walk out when Miguna is here, we will. My persistence is on you (Trevor Ombija) to ensure that the rules of the debate are observed," he declared.
