Man Who Witnessed Nakuru Chopper Crash Appears in Gakuru Accident - Kenyans Question

Kenyans were on Tuesday in disbelief after a man who was a witness to the fatal Gakuru road accident was identified to have been a witness to the Nakuru chopper crash that occurred last month.

The man identified as Dennis Muigai Ngengi was at the scene during the Fatal Thika-Murang'a road accident that claimed the life of Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru.

He gave eyewitness accounts to the media about the accident claiming he was driving behind the governor's car when the accident happened.

Mr Ngengi stated that initial reports by the police that the horrific accident was caused by a tire-burst were not accurate.

“The driver of the governor’s car was confused by a motorbike rider who was carrying meat. The motorbike rider joined the road blindly… So while avoiding to hit the rider, the governor’s driver swerved off the road, and that’s when they rammed into the rail.

"My car then moved to the other side of the road and it wasn’t until we were a little further ahead that we noticed the tires fly off the car… I was being driven by a female officer,” the told Citizen Tv.

Kenyans on Social media were quick to notice that the man looked familiar from the Nakuru chopper crash that claimed the lives of five peoples.

When contacted, Mr Ngengi refuted claims that he was the same person who had witnessed the fatal chopper crash despite footage suggesting otherwise.

The most striking similarities that people noticed were the signature sunglasses and a conspicuous earpiece.

During the Lake Nakuru crash, he identified himself by the same name (Dennis Muigai Ngengi) and stated that he was a state pilot.

“In our family, there are several people called Dennis Muigai Ngengi, maybe we are related,” he told Citizen TV, explaining that it could have been a mere coincidence.

He added that the coincidence could reflect badly on him with dire consequences for him.
