Kenya's Trending Topics on 9th November 2017

Kenyans were on Thursday engaged in various discussions around the events of the day including an announcement made by Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich.

Under the topics CS Rotich and Eurobond, Kenyans bashed the government for announcing plans to issue a new Sh77.3 Billion Bond.

"We are not doing anything strange. We can’t just enter there (international market) and disappear until we pay the loan.

"What we are saying is that it’s (Eurobond) an option for us to finance any infrastructure that we may want to do in this financial year or use it for liquidity management," CS Rotich defended, adding that the government had not set a time limit for the issuing of the Eurobond.

People's Assembly

The National Super Alliance (NASA) continued to make headway in its pursuit to institute a People's Assembly countrywide.

On Thursday, Homa Bay county assembly became the second county to approve the formation of the People's Assembly with Siaya county having done so on Wednesday.

The matter was also up for deliberation at the Senate as the county representatives were set to determine the validity of the move by the Opposition coalition.

Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata sparked the discussion seeking to have the Senators determine a punishment for the county assemblies for the move.
