Kenyans were on Tuesday excited after an unfamiliar female lawyer made her submissions at the Supreme Court of Kenya on behalf of civil activists Njonjo Mue and Khelef Khalifa.

Under the hashtags #SupremeCourtKE and #ElectionTruthKE, social media users were delightfully excited by lawyer Jullie Soweto.

Here are some of the comments that were shared.

Ms Soweto made a memorable entrance to the highest court in the land after she arrived late for the inaugural proceedings of the October 26 presidential election petitions.

Chief Justice David Maraga was forced to adjourn the court momentarily as Ms Soweto, along with her colleagues, were held up at security checkpoints at City Hall.

When the court session resumed, the lawyer excused herself citing that her team had been involved in an accident on their way to court.

The accomplished lawyer also sparked conversations last week during the hearing of a petition against Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o.

A witness testifying in favour of former Governor Jack Ranguma was held in contempt of the court after referring to her as "my dear".

"There is the language he uses in his bedroom and in court. Please, this a new Kenya where we respect women by not referring to them as 'dear' but by their titles and full names," Judge David Majanja admonished.
